Offering a strong combination of fun and functionality, the 2012 Toyota Yaris lineup is slated to debut this fall with bold new styling, outstanding safety features and improved fuel economy of up to 38 mpg highway—all at an MSRP that starts at just $14,115.

But the Yaris is packed with features despite that high-value price, including more than $1,000 worth of additional content that wasn’t on the 2011 base model. All grades of the 2012 Yaris boast standard equipment like electric power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, power door locks, air conditioning, halogen headlamps, an AM/FM/CD/USB sound system and nine airbags. Also standard: Significantly more cargo room. Thanks to its new, slightly larger exterior proportions, the interior of the 2012 Yaris delivers 64 percent more cargo volume in its three-door configuration and 68 percent more as a five-door.

And both are powered by a peppy 1.5-liter I4 that makes 106 hp and 103 lb.-ft. of torque across a surprisingly wide power band. Drivers will be able to choose from either an upgraded four-speed electronically controlled electronic transmission (available on all models) or a slick-shifting five-speed manual (available on the L and SE models). Toyota engineers also worked to improve driving dynamics for Yaris owners by incorporating a new suspension with MacPherson struts in the front and a torsion-beam setup in the rear, and also outfitting the car with a thicker front stabilizer bar.

For drivers who want a more athletic experience, the Yaris SE adds:

• A sport-tuned suspension

“There is a lot of excitement in the subcompact category today, but the all-new 2012 Toyota Yaris is at the top of the list when it comes to combining value and fuel efficiency with style and fun,” said Toyota Division Group Vice President and General Manager Bob Carter. “Today’s young, price-conscious shoppers want the complete package that the new Yaris offers: room for their friends and gear, along with a strong list of standard convenience and safety features.”

The completely redesigned 2012 Toyota Yaris will be available in showrooms starting this month. The updated subcompact will begin from $14,115 in the three-door body style. A loaded SE five-door liftback with a four-speed automatic can be had for just $17,200.

Toyota said that Yaris shipments began on August 31. Despite production issues earlier in the year stemming from the March earthquake in Japan, Toyota execs say that North American plants are now running at maximum operating rates, including overtime.

Due to improved production out, Toyota also expects dealer inventories to grow in September for the first time since the twin disasters in Japan disrupted production.

Deliveries of the all-new Yaris and Camry will be followed up by the arrival of the Prius V and Scion iQ, making it four all-new models before the end of the year.

The all-new 2012 Toyota Yaris arrives in showrooms this fall with fresh, sporty styling and a bevy of new safety features. The latest Yaris also boasts improved fuel economy that should satisfy the demands of most subcompact car buyers.

Although Toyota retained the model’s modest exterior dimensions, the 2012 Yaris has a smartly-designed interior that delivers roominess and refinement. Buyers will also love the Yaris’ responsive driving dynamics.

Toyota didn’t want the Yaris to be just another frugal subcompact. Engineers and designers wanted to create a no-compromise vehicle, and successfully delivered on that promise. Under the hood is a potent 1.5-liter, 16-valve, four-cylinder DOHC engine equipped with variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i), producing 106 horsepower and 103 pound-feet of torque. All Yaris L, LE and SE models are available with a new four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, featuring a more compact, lighter-weight design and reduced friction for greater fuel efficiency.  A sportier, smooth-shifting five-speed manual transmission is also available on L and SE models.

The suspension on the Yaris has also been re-tuned for a better ride and improved driving feel. Standard tire size has also been increased to 15-inches to satisfy that goal, along with giving the car and edgier look.

Safety was another important requirement for the all-new Yaris. The new model boasts a long list of safety features including:

• Nine standard airbags including a knee airbag for the driver
• Toyota’s Star Safety System, which includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist
• Toyota’s brake-override system
• Advanced Whiplash Injury-Lessening (WIL) front-seat structure
• Impact-absorbing body structure utilizing high-tensile strength steel

Inside, there are plenty of features to keep audiophiles and technophiles happy. All 2012 Yaris models also feature full audio connectivity via USB and auxiliary ports, along with a standard AM/FM/CD player with MP3 and WMA playback compatibility. LE and SE models feature an audio system with HD radio, six speakers and Bluetooth music streaming technology.

With an estimated highway fuel economy rating of nearly 40 miles per gallon, and a base price of just $14,115, the all-new 2012 Toyota Yaris certainly could be the no-compromise vehicle that many value-conscious consumers are looking for.

Toyota’s lovable Yaris subcompact is all-new for the 2012 model year. While the price is slightly higher than the 2011 model, the latest Yaris is packed with more standard features.

The 2012 Toyota Yaris will start from $14,115 (plus $760 in delivery costs) in the three-door bodystyle. The new Yaris will again offer the Toyota Star Safety System as standard equipment and an array of enhancements including a new SE model with an enhanced tuned suspension.

The five-door SE model with a four-speed automatic transmission will top off the Yaris lineup at $17,200, up only $100 compared to the 2011 model. The new SE five-door equipped with a sporty five-speed manual gearbox can be had for $16,400.

Toyota has officially taken the covers off of the 2012 Yaris. Photos of the new subcompact were published on the company’s Hungary Facebook page to entice buyers ahead of its launch in Europe this summer.

The 2012 Toyota Yaris will boast a new, affordable multimedia connectivity system called Toyota Touch & Go. The system features a 6.1-inch touchscreen display and integrates a number of technological goodies including navigation, a backup camera and mobile apps. Real-time traffic coverage, customizable speed limit warnings and notification of nearby speed cameras is also bundled in the system.

“Developed from an original concept of ‘compact outside, spacious inside,’ new Yaris shows Toyota further improving the clever packaging that was a hallmark of its predecessors,” Toyota said.

The European Yaris will receive three engine options, including a diesel. When it arrives here in the U.S., expect a four-cylinder engine displacing between 1.3 and 1.5 liters and coming matched with a manual transmission as standard or an optional automatic.

Rumor has it that the Toyota Yaris may be replaced in the U.S. with an all-new model. According to Autocar, Toyota is looking to offer a more competitive offering in the wake of more stylish subcompacts like the Ford Fiesta, Mazda2 and Honda Fit.

The Toyota Yaris remains a formidable subcompact with an affordable price tag and high mileage. However, it hasn’t received a major updated since its debut back in 2006.

The rumored, all-new model is expected to be somewhat larger than the current Yaris. It’s also expected to break cover at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Although a hybrid Yaris model is currently destined for the European market, there has been no word on whether such a model will make it Stateside.

With 29 miles per gallon in city driving and 35 miles per gallon on the highway,  Albuquerque Auto Financing points out that the Yaris has competitive fuel economy without the added cost associated with hybrid vehicles.

Despite its small engine and high fuel economy, the Toyota Yaris is surprisingly fun to drive, and offers plenty of peppiness for around town driving. For those who crave just a little more power, this can be easily achieved with the help of a Toyota Racing Development turbocharger available through Toyota Parts City of Industry. The suspension for the Yaris is well tuned, and provides the Yaris with spirited and nimble handling, but without a harsh ride.

The interior of the Yaris S provides a comfortable and sporty environment. According to Toyota Car Loans Tacoma, the S package includes auxiliary audio, rear spoiler, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and unique cloth on the bucket seats up front. Other features include power windows and locks and a 60/40 splint rear bench seat that makes it easy to stow larger cargo.

Despite its small size, customers at Ogden Toyota dealers have found that the Toyota Yaris offers plenty of room up front and in the rear. With the rear seats folded down, there’s even a commendable 25.7 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear compartment.

There are many affordable compact cars to choose from these days, but few are as efficient and as fun to drive as the Toyota Yaris. With the latest five-door body style, the Toyota Yaris is now even more versatile which should help it remain a dominant choice in this segment.
