As Toyota continues to rebuild its image following massive recalls, the automaker will also continue to offer special leases and low interest rates to fuel sales. These incentives helped Toyota see a 24 percent increase in sales during the month of April compared to the same period a year ago.
In addition to continuing its popular incentives on most new Toyota cars and trucks, Lexus will also offer a new promotion called “Unprecedented Access” which provides special lease rates and low interest rates for repeat Lexus customers.
One area that Toyota plans to continue to focus on is leasing. About 35 percent of sales during April were attributed to leasing.
“It’s a key benefit for us,” Toyota Division chief Bob Carter said during a sales call today. “Customers like to change vehicles. We believe this is a strategy that can benefit the entire industry.”
For now Toyota continues to rely on rebates and incentives, but Carter also hinted that during summer the automaker will instead focus on marketing brand attributes rather than simply great deals.
