Toyota FT-CH Continues Hybrid Prowess

by Toyota in the News on January 11, 2010

This past year marked a number of new challenges and pitfalls for Toyota. But as we enter a new year, it’s clear that Toyota has learned from the missteps it had taken in 2009. One lesson learned is that when it comes products, it should certainly focus on what it knows best, such as hybrids.

While Toyota’s lineup has grown to include large hybrid sedans and hybrid crossover vehicles, Toyota has shown at the Detroit Auto Show that it intends to remain focused on the affordable compact hybrid segment as well with the debut of the FT-CH.

The Toyota FT-CH is a hybrid vehicle that’s slightly smaller than the Toyota Prius. With its wide track and short length, the FT-CH features a sportier stance than the demur Prius. Its sweeping roofline also gives the illusion of performance.

While Toyota surely won’t be shying away from innovative hybrid technology anytime soon, the automaker still remains tight-lipped on whether the FT-CH will make it to production. However, the lack of detail throughout the interior gives the impression that plenty of work is still required should Toyota decide to prepare this vehicle for the assembly line.
