Toyota Remains Optimistic About 2010

by Toyota in the News on January 26, 2010

Despite facing a tough year in 2009, Toyota forecasts a six percent increase in sales for 2010 as the Japanese automaker attempts to hold on to its edge against Volkswagen and General Motors as the world’s largest automaker.

One area where Toyota is predicting significant sales gains this year is in Japan, where already the latest Prius hybrid in particular has become the highest selling car of 2009. In addition, Toyota and Lexus models are expected to get a boost by a Cash for Clinkers type program launched by the government.

In addition to strong sales at home in Japan, Toyota has been focusing on developing markets, particular South East Asian where the automaker is developing new affordable small cars to satisfy increasing demand in the region.

Overall, vehicle sales are expected to increase this year. But Toyota is expected to performance slightly better than average.
