All automakers seem to be turning their attention to the very large and rapidly developing automotive markets in India and China, and Toyota is no exception. That’s precisely why Toyota has announced that it will soon offer an all-new compact car specifically for the Indian auto market. This new car will make its debut at the 10th Auto Expo in New Delhi in early January.

Details about this new car have yet to be released, but it’s expected to be small and very inexpensive to compete with other affordable small cars such as the Tata Nano, which has a base price of approximately $2,160.

As car sales in India continue to grow, large automakers are noticing. Volkswagen and Ford are two other automakers that are looking to produce models specifically for the Indian market while also scrambling to invest in new local manufacturing facilities.

Although car sales in the U.S. and in Japan are still weakened, Toyota is looking to grab a strong foothold in India and other markets to bolster its position globally.
