Toyota has announced updates for a number of vehicles within their lineup, including such vehicles as the Toyota Tundra and the Toyota Highlander, which should help maintain momentum amid falling demand for trucks and SUVs.

The Toyota Tundra pickup truck is now going to be able to operate with E85 Flex Fuel on all 4×4 Tundra models powered by the 5.7-liter V8 engine. In addition, Tundra drivers can also take advantage of additional options packages, including a TRD Sport and a TRD Rock Warrior package. Each of these packages add special wheels and color keyed exterior features. The Rock Warrior package also adds TRD off-road suspension for the most serious off-road enthusiasts, which for Yakima Toyota dealers is an important customer demographic.
The Toyota Highlander also receives a new 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine for 2009 on two wheel-drive equipped models. This new engine should be available in dealer showrooms in January and will produce 187-horsepower and offer additional fuel efficiency compared to the V6 variant.
In addition to these models, the Toyota 4Runner adds the SR5 Trail Edition package for the 4×4 equipped V6 models. Among the equipment included within this new package includes a locking rear differential, traction control, and new wheels and shock absorbers. The Trail Edition 4Runner also adds water resistant seats and a detachable TomTom personal navigation device.
While the 4Runner gets updates for off-road enthusiasts, the Tacoma receives updates as well that should appeal to a wide range of potential buyers. Additional features include ABS, traction control, brake assist, electronic brake force distribution, and stability control standard, along with several other important safety features – all of which appeal to safety-conscious shoppers at Minneapolis Toyota and elsewhere. There’s even a new limited slip differential to help maintain traction in adverse weather conditions.

For the important compact SUV segment, Toyota ups with ante with updates to the RAV4, including adding more power thanks to a new 2.5-liter 179-horsepower engine. In addition, the vehicle gets an updated front fascia. There’s even a new sport package that adds color, power heated mirrors, stainless steel exhaust tips, and run-flat tires.
