Next month, Wisconsin Toyota dealer Smart Motors of Madison hopes to claim the record for the world’s longest hybrid vehicle parade. The event will feature more than 500 hybrid vehicles of various makes and models.
The previous record of 140 hybrids was set in Belgium last year, so the Hybrids on Parade (HOP) event should be a success in claiming a new Guinness World Record.
“It’s well known Madison has a green streak,” said Smart Motors HOP organizer, Paul Cooley. “So it only makes sense that we also hold a world record associated with the technology.”
Battery-electric vehicles like the Nissan Leaf or the Chevrolet Volt are not eligible. However, anyone else with a production hybrid vehicle is welcome, including those that drive any Toyota brand hybrids.
Those interested in participating can register online without an entry fee. Those that participate will also receive a breakfast reception before the Hybrids on Parade begins on July 24.
Cooley added, “This will really put Madison on the map and cement our position as environment-conscious, green-loving consumers.”
